The Charities

“This is a feeling I want every human to be able to feel and the best way I know how is by supporting the people who make these trails possible. To do this, I am raising money for the Washington Trails Association . . . I am asking for your support. Please help keep these trails open and accessible for generations by making a small financial contribution that helps continue the work the WTA is doing.”

“For this hike, I am raising donations for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. I grew up in Front Royal, Virginia and went to school at Virginia Wesleyan. The beauty of the West has captured my eyes for the past few years but I want to increase awareness for the gems we have here on the Eastern Shore . . . CBF is committed to making the Bay and its rivers and streams—from New York to Virginia—healthy and productive again. I share their vision of sustainable populations of crabs, fish, and oysters; of waters where our children and grandchildren can swim safely.”

“When I hike the Great Western Loop this year, I want to do so in a way that I can help others manage their mental health. There is no better way to do this than by supporting NAMI NH. 100% of donations to this cause will go to NAMI so they can further fund programs to support and advocate for those with a mental illness.”

“Who Am I? My name is Mac McDonald and I am a Marine Veteran. As project leader and hiker I have chosen the Semper Fi Fund as my supported Charity During my attempt of the Great Western Loop. After 8 years active service with multiple tours in the Middle East and abroad I decided to hike the Appalachian Trial in 2014 to “walk off the war”. Like Earl Schaffer did so long ago, I stepped onto the trail and haven’t looked back since. 5 years later with more expertise and drive I set out to complete the 7,000 mile Great Western Loop while continuing to support my fellow Veterans.”

“It takes more than one person to make up a team and that’s why I’m asking you to donate to my Team In Training fundraising page! By participating as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training, I am raising funds to help find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

Patients need these cures and they need your support.”

Phaneendra Kollipara is a long distance hiker and may very well be the only Triple crowner ( Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail & the Continental Divide Trail) from India. “Yiran and his team will be racing against weather and injury to complete this route through some of the most remote and beautiful land in the west . . . As part of this adventure, Yiran is fundraising for Reading Partners Sacramento. Reading Partners provides 1-on-1 literacy tutoring and mentorship to students in low-income schools, so they can build a solid educational foundation.”
